A landscape that
never stands still.
Yellowstone brings together geothermal features, broad valleys, forests, lakes, and extraordinary wildlife habitat. These field notes begin with two moments that stayed with JP: a bison among the pines and steam drifting over Grand Prismatic Spring.
Firsthand perspective: the photographs and observations on this page come from JP’s visit to Yellowstone.
YELLOWSTONE NATIONAL PARK · AUGUST 2025
Where the earth
still breathes.
In August 2025, Yellowstone felt alive beneath our feet. Steam drifted across the boardwalks, mineral terraces stepped down the hillsides, and every turn revealed a landscape shaped by heat, water, and time. It was beautiful, strange, and impossible to forget.

A wild morning
A quiet encounter with the size, presence, and unhurried rhythm of Yellowstone’s wildlife.

Steam and color
Turquoise water, vivid mineral edges, and drifting steam create a landscape that feels alive.
TRAVEL WITH CARE
Give the landscape
room to be wild.
Wildlife should always be viewed from a safe distance, and geothermal areas require visitors to remain on designated paths and boardwalks. Conditions and access can change throughout the year.
